BRIEF HISTORY ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION.

The department of arts and social science Education was created on 13th of march 2014 following the council's approval. The department of Arts and social science Education programs were housed in five other departments in the faculty incl uding the institute of education,it also offered courses in curriculum and pedagogy relevant to the needs of secondary schools teachers in training and designed for all students in the faculty irrespective of subject of specialization co nsidering the inadequacy in the practice of having homogeneous programs housed in different departments and following the mandate of the national universities commission that the faculty restructured in line with best practice.

The faculty submitted a proposal to the university which passed through different stages and committees before the cou ncil approval was finally given for the take - off of the department.Consequently,the department of Arts and social sc ience Education took off with the following programs. B.A ED English, French, Yoruba,Music,Fine Art,Religious studies and History. B.ED language Arts and social studies. B.sc Economics,Geography and political science.

Humbled by the uncommon kindness of almighty God,the all sufficient,the most impeccable who by his endless grace gives power to whosoever he desires. It is him also who guides a leader's path and deeds to deliver prodigious stewardship for the betterment of the led. On behalf of the entire central executive council"De'Trailblazer crew". I acknowledge the invaluable support of all NAASESITES in all ramifications bestowed upon all executives and I during the elections. I want to give special commendation to the acting H.O.D of the department of Arts and social science Education Dr.Bamidele,together with all staff advisers for their progressive,ethical and moral values,they have been contributing to the growth and development of the department. To the freshmen, I congratulate you on your admission to this noble department,my advice to you is to take your academics pursuit as your first priority. To the stalites we all know OAU is a land of struggle,just keep aiming to achieve that expected glory. To our esteem finalist, I want to commend you all for your dogedness over the years,I pray you all graduate joyfully,may you not labor in vain. Also,this is to remind our amiable members of this noble association our target and programs so far: A befitting freshers orientation which includes: a.Awareness program/ indoor games and PES contest. b.Symposium c.Novelty match between the freshers and stalites. d.Mountaineering/film show. Procurement of Notice board for the department. Procurement of Jersey for the NAASES football team. Procurement of megaphone for quick information dissemination. Hence,there are still lots to be achieved before the end of this tenure. I therefore enjoin all NAASESITES to be a good citizen of the department and school at large. To all NAASESITES who are yet to contribute in their own little quota to the Association which is through their annual due,please lets endeavor to pay up and not to forget the crew electoral promise which is *accountability and transparency.* LONG LIVE NAASES LONG LIVE FACULTY OF EDUCATION LONG LIVE OAU LONG LIVE NIGERIA.
